ATASC Board of Directors Election Report

The ATASC Board of Directors was elected by the General Assembly on January 28, 2007.  Below is a summary of the elections:

The Election Committee consisted of Ahmet Atahan (Chair), Michelle Deniz Drousé and Arzu Kurkoglu.  The Election Committee determined that there were a total of 46 potential voters based on verifying that all members and their proxy members were in “good standing” with ATASC and its Chapters.  Ahmet Atahan explained the elections procedure and opened nominations.  The Elections Committee decided that the At-Large candidate with the lowest number of votes of the top 3 would receive the 1-year term seat.  After being nominated for President, Ahmet Atahan stepped down from the Election Committee to avoid a conflict of interest.  Michelle Deniz Drousé continued oversight of the elections.  After all nominees had accepted their nominations, the General Assembly closed nominations.  Each candidate had an opportunity to present a speech.  Members of the General Assembly cast their votes in accordance with ATASC’s internal election procedures and Bylaws. The Elections Committee counted the votes and presented the results.  The following is a list of the nominees and their corresponding votes:

President: Ahmet Atahan (46 votes), Chief Financial Officer: Ergun Tamer (46 votes), BOD Members-at-large (3 seats): Canan Serdaroglu (45 votes), Hafize Turgut (35 votes), Mine Caglar (24 votes), Irfan Bilgin (20 votes).

Therefore, the following represent the newly elected Board of Directors:

President: Ahmet Atahan

Chief Financial Officer: Ergun Tamer

At-Large Director (2-years): Canan Serdaroglu

At-Large Director (2-years): Hafize Turgut

At-Large Director (1-year): Mine Caglar

These members have officially assumed their roles as of January 28, 2007.  Congratulations to our new Board of Directors, and we look forward to a very successful 2007!

Sincerely,

ATASC Elections Committee
