Dear Friends,

Sunday, May 6th, TALL presented a day to honor mothers and it was truly a special event.   The Tall board ( Asuman Yilmaz, Naime Berkoz, Arzu Sinsek, Leyla Cohen, Hafize Turgut, Melissa Doker and Azade Balkaner) met all 120 plus guests (as many men as women) at the garden gate of the Mustafoglu home and handed each a glass of champagne to celebrate the day. TALL membership stepped up to the plate and treated the public to a fantastic bake sale with items such as asure, baklava, assorted cookies, seker pare and apple cookies. Everything sold out!

Luncheon was served while live music filled the air and there was more food than one can imagine. Our new consul general of Turkey, the Honorable Riza Hakan Tekin attended and met a large portion of the Turkish community as well as the Honorable and Mrs. Elin Suleymanov, consul and wife of Azerbaijan. We presented them with lovely rose bouquets. Our vice consul Anil Bora, Cevdet Yildirim and  wife Fatma of the consulate and the new commercial attaché Selen Eryuce also greeted many guests. Mehmet Mustafoglu, Honorary Rep of North Cyprus hosted the many dignitaries of the day at his home.

Hostess Demetra Mustafoglu served the main courses and the membership supplemented with wonderful side dishes and salads. Pastries and lokum abounded as well as soft drinks and coffee. Guests made luncheon donations to TALL and paid their annual dues.

The sun shone brightly for the garden event and vendors were busy showing off their wares to a captive and interested audience. Tickets for the raffle were sold as well and the group had a good time watching the drawings and cheering on the winners.

A health talk was given by Hope Ryf and Al Pirnia from Westlake Alternative Healthcare of Westlake, California. Thyroid readings, fat indexes and calorie burning ability were tested gratis for all who wished and an introduction was made to a wonderful nutrition program called Ultra-Lite from Australia to maintain good health and weight. Our audience was spellbound and had great fun learning their results.

Though an English guest got sunstroke and the paramedics visited, the weather was fantastic for our day of honoring the Mother's in our Lives and much goodwill and love was spread around our Turkish community through the TALL family that day. Each guest upon their departure received a white rose from TALL.
