ATASC General Assembly and Elections: Sunday, March 16, 2014, 1:00 pm- 3:15 pm

In accordance with the ATASC Bylaws, dated October 29, 2010, Article II Qualifications of Directors, the candidate who meets the following criteria may run for the ATASC Board:
— A member in good standing with ATASC and/or its Chapters (i.e., paid membership through 12/31/2013);
— A resident of Los Angeles County, Orange County, Ventura County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, San Diego County, or Santa Barbara County; and
— A member who has served for a minimum of one year on the ATASC and/or Chapters’ Boards (ATASC-SD, LATAA, OCTAA, TALL, and VATAN).
The Election Committee (Vega Sankur, Javid Huseynov, Burcu Tansu) have received the following 3 candidate statements from qualified candidates by the deadline.
Z. Ayca Altintig, PhD.
Ms. Ayca Altintig is currently an Assistant Professor of Finance at Claremont Graduate University. She has a PhD in Finance from Louisiana State University and BA in Business from Bogazici (Bosphorus) University in Turkey. She teaches corporate and international finance and does research in venture capital and agency theory. She has been a dedicated member of OCTAA for many years. She has served in the OC Turkish School for the last six years, one year as a teacher (2008-2009), 2 years as the director (2009-2011) of the school and 3 (2011-2014) years on the school’s board of directors. During this time she has also served on OCTAA’s Board of Directors for 2 years (2009-2011).
Statement of Interest:
I am a very firm believer in the importance of community and grassroots organizations in the development of communities. I have done my nest to serve the Turkish American Community in OC in the past six years through the development of the Turkish school in OC. I have seen firsthand how the OC Turkish school grew in its size (from about 25 students to now a steady stream of 45) and with it growth created a united community of Turkish Americans in OC. I have seen many members of our community come into a school or OCTAA event for the first time skeptical and unaware of the large number of Turkish Americans around, and be instantly pulled in by shared interests. I have been a part of the development of a great Turkish American community in OC where our children now grow together/ play together and even stay in touch as they embark on their own adult careers through college and beyond.
I believe that all Turkish American Communities in Southern CA are equally as impressive and strong. ATASC as an umbrella organization does and can still do so much for this great community. I have spent many years serving OCTAA, I would now like to do whatever I can for Turkish American Communities all over Southern California. I am grateful to be considered for a membership position for ATASC board of directors.

Ahmet Onerbay
I would like to nominate myself for ATASC Board Of Directors at the upcoming 2014 BOD elections If elected, I will contribute to ATASC with my ideas and projects that I have established/enriched throughout my presidency at Los Angeles Turkish American Association. (LATAA)
Ahmet Onerbay was born in 1980. He graduated from Istanbul University, History department. After moving to New York in 2001 he went to City University of New York and got his Master’s Degree in Political Science. He also studied Strategy and Leadership at Chapman University, California.
Ahmet has been serving Turkish – American Community since he moved to the United States. He was elected as board of director to Los Angeles Turkish American Association (LATAA) in 2010. He then was elected President of LATAA in 2012 and served the Los Angeles Turkish American Community until February 2014. During his Presidency at LATAA he was also a Board Member at ATASC.
