ATASC is the umbrella organization for the five local chapters that you might be more familiar with. ATASC chapters are:
Los Angeles: LATAA
Orange County: OCTAA
San Diego: ATASC-SD
Ventura County: VATAN
Turkish American Ladies League: TALL
As ATASC, we do the strategy, policy, guidelines and monitor the finances for both ATASC and chapters. Furthermore, we organize the national events all over Southern California such as 23 Nisan Children’s Day Festival, Republic Day Ball and 10 Kasim Ataturk Remembrance Day as well as lead the effort for an Ataturk Monument.
In 2012, ATASC and its five chapters organized overall more than 50 events for our community. ATASC and OCTAA together organized 2 seminars about the sunken harbor at Yenikapi that was attended by close to 500 Americans.
We collected $12K for Kizilay earthquake victims to help buy container homes for the victims. http://www.tpfund.org/blog/project/van-earthquake-relief-fund/. Our philantropic chapter TALL collected funds to give scholarships to 12 university students again this year through Cagdas Yasam Destek Dernegi among other volunteer activities here and in Turkey. http://www.tallglobal.org.
If you want to serve Turkish American community and support philantrophy here and in Turkey, come join ATASC family. We are always looking for volunteers to keep our community vibrant and to have Turkish American voices heard.
