VEGA SANKUR (For the position of President)
Dear Election Committee Members
I would like to be a candidate for the ATASC President position.
I was born and raised in Turkey. I graduated from Robert College with a degree in Chem Eng’g, got married and came to US to go to graduate school. After graduate school, I worked for USC, JPL and Chevron. I am currently retired and work part time as a consultant. I am still married and mother of 2 young Turkish Americans.
My recent involvement with ATASC and chapters started in 2005. I have been president of the VATAN chapter and recently I held the position of ATASC president for the last 2 years.

ASUMAN YILMAZ (For the position of Member-At-Large)
Dear Election Committee Members,
I would like to be a candidate for the ATASC member at large position.
I am a Software Quality Assurance Manager at Simsci-Esscor and has been in the industry for over 30 years. We made Orange County our home. I graduated from Bogazci University with BS in Chemical Engineering and from University College of Swansea with MS in Biochemical Engineering.
I have been involved with different positions of ATASC and TALL since founded in 2003. I was a TALL board member in 2003. I was the co-president of TALL during 2004-2008 and past president from 2008 to 2010. I have been member at large at ATASC since 2008.
I have been heavily involved with different organizations when my kids were in school, PTA, Booster club, SITE Council, Grad Committee, etc. I bring all my experiences from past volunteer works and my leadership, management skills to make a difference in this community.

HAFİZE TURGUT (For the position of Vice-President/President-Elect)
I would like to be a candidate for the ATASC Vice President/President-Elect position.
I was born and raised in Izmir, Turkey. I graduated from Bilkent University with a BS degree in Mathematics and came to the US upon getting a scholarship from USC for graduate studies in Economics in 2002. During school and after receiving my MS in Economics, I worked for Transglobal Financial LLC as the Assistant Portfolio Manager. I then worked as a Financial Consultant at Health Net Insurance. Since 2008, I have been a Finance Manager at Farmers Insurance.
My involvement with Turkish community first started when I became the Vice President of AlaturkaOnline, the first Turkish e-newspaper in the US. I also worked actively in the Turkish Student Association while studying at USC from 2002 until 2004. I was elected as a board member for the TALL chapter in 2005. I served as a member-at-large of the ATASC BOD from 2006 to 2008. I have been the co-president of the TALL chapter for the last 3 years.
After more than six years, it is still exciting to me to be a part of the ATASC and volunteering for the benefit of Turkish American community in the US.

HÜLYA KOŞAL (For the position of Chief Financial Officer-CFO)
I would like to be a candidate for the ATASC Chief Financial Officer position.
I was born and raised in Turkey. I came to US in 1980 and started my Accounting career while attending several vocational programs, finally I decided to continue on my education in 1994 and completed CPA required accounting certificate program and graduated UCSB in 1996.
Since then I have provided input into development of Internal Financial Control Policies and Procedures. Implemented various structural System set-up to compose reporting procedures that are integrated to consolidations.
My recent involvement with ATASC started in 1995-1996.
Once again I am introducing my candidacy for this position, to volunteer in helping my community to achieve their goals in introduction of our great inheritance and values to this nation, while complying with GAAP & IRS rules and regulations.

T. TOLGA YAPRAK (For the position of Member-At-Large)
I would like to run for the Member-At-Large/Webmaster position.
I was born in Artvin, Turkey. After graduating from Istanbul Technical University, Dept. of Civil Engineering in 1994, I came to the United States to study structural engineering for my graduate eduacation. After earning my MS and PhD in Civil Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC) in 2002, I started my professional career at Degenkolb Engineers, a private structural engineering and consulting firm specializing in earthquake resistant structural design and seismic retrofit of buildings. Last year, I started my own consulting and design firm (TY Engineering And Design) where I provide structural engineering and design services for the construction industry in Southern California for residential and commercial sectors.
As for the community service experience in Southern California, I have served at LATAA board of directors for more than two years (2007-2009), as well as I served as the webmaster and member-at-large at ATASC board of directors in 2010.
